How to rename a block in autocad 2007




















Follow these steps: Open the Properties palette. Click the Quick Select button to open the Quick Select dialog box. For the Object Type, choose Block Reference. For the Property, choose Name. Click OK. To Insert a Block Reference Select an icon or a block name from the block definitions displayed in the gallery.

Click the location for the block reference. Click the Recent Blocks option. From the Blocks palette, click and place the block reference. Click the Blocks from Other Drawings option.

You can use search to find and insert any block definition that is already contained in the drawing. At the Command prompt, do one of the following: Type block. Expand the drop-down list if necessary to display more available blocks. Select a block to insert. Follow the prompts to insert the block. From drawing select components which you want to keep in drawing then right click to bring the contextual menu.

From this menu select isolate then isolate objects. All the objects from the drawing will disappear leaving only drawing objects which you have selected, now you have a clutter free drawing to work with.

All you do is pick a Block insertion, and a text-editing box comes up in which you give it a new name. It comes up with the current name already filled in, so if you want to change only a character or two in a long name, you don't need to type out the whole thing.

At that point I could have left the drawing as is, I could have made new blocks with an orderly naming system and reinserted them, or I could have renamed the existing blocks with the AutoCAD REN command.
