As Seen On. Welcome to Tech Support Guy! Latest posts. Windows My bios menu is not working with my new SSD on Latest: lunarlander 38 minutes ago. From there, I can launch explorer. Any thoughts on how I should proceed to diagnose and fix this Black Screen problem? Here is a stab in the dark. The specific error code is 0xba [The RPC server is unavailable.
Name of file that loads Windows XP desktop? I am thinking that perhaps that file has been corrupted. In other words, it seems like everything is loading except the Windows GUI. That is explorer. After F8'ting during boot screens , try "previous good start" option? Previous good config Thanks for the sugestion Liquidlen. I F8 during the boot process and ran the "Previous Good Configuration" but got the same problem I ran SpinRite and Western Digital disk diag software on the hard drives The odd thing is that after launching explorer.
Windows is just not loading the GUI. If you can get to google maybe on another machine type in 0xba and you will see some advice. I believe you got some corruption.
I would copy all your data. Instead of using the latest one's maybe try a file that is one or two dates back. Vid card drivers are updated constantly the latest do not always work.
Let us know. I did a test on my 'other' known good PC On the 'other' PC, I get the same error message It does seem like I have a corrupted file I am suspicious that the disk defrag and spyware scans I ran the day before may have caused this problem. All components of Windows seem to be working and loading This might be a long shot , but you've got command prompt.
I'm hoping to see someone reply here so that we can fix this problem. Our only difference is that I have a desktop and I don't have any files from other people with the same problem here and that mine runs good on Safe Mode. Right after the xp splash screen all thats left is black screen and the mouse cursor that still works. I tried all the check disk from the recovery council and last good configuration. I even tried a restore from backup from a run from disk program I have. The odd part is Ive been seeing quite a few like this come in for repairs.
I normally just wipe them and reinstall but they want to keep there data on this dell laptop.
